In a significant move toward socio-economic empowerment, the Paul Ogoun Foundation (POF) officially inaugurated its Batch D induction and orientation ceremony today, March 16, 2026. Held at the Foundation’s conference hall, the event marked the start of a transformative journey for numerous residents of Bayelsa State.
The ceremony brought together a distinguished assembly of guests, vocational facilitators, and eager trainees, all focused on the mission of equipping the local populace with high-demand 21st-century skills.
A Call to Action: “Skills are Non-Negotiable”
The Director of the 100% Free Skill Acquisition Programme, Amb. High Chief (Capt) Paul Mandela Ogoun, PhD, JP, delivered a stirring keynote address. He emphasized that in the modern global economy, possessing a practical skill is no longer an option but a necessity for survival and growth.
“We are committed to providing our trainees with the knowledge, skills, and support necessary to excel,” Dr. Ogoun stated. “This training is entirely free, but it should not be taken for granted. Significant resources have been invested because we believe in your potential to transform the Nigerian economy.”
Diverse Curriculum and Expert Mentorship
The Batch D program offers a comprehensive suite of vocational tracks designed to foster immediate self-employment. The curriculum includes:
• Catering & Culinary Arts
• Soap and Paint Production
• Professional Screeding
• Agro-Farming Initiatives
• Shoe and Bag Crafting
During the orientation, trainees were introduced to their respective facilitators, who will provide hands-on mentorship throughout the duration of the program.
Community Impact and Gratitude
The Paul Ogoun Foundation’s initiative is specifically tailored to empower Nigerian youths, women, and men, providing them with the expertise required to create a meaningful societal impact.
Several inductees expressed their profound gratitude to Ambassador Captain Ogoun, noting that the rising cost of living makes such free, high-quality training a “lifeline.” The participants collectively pledged their dedication to the program, vowing to utilize the opportunity to become value-adding members of society.
With a core mission to “touch lives positively on a daily basis,” the POF continues to solidify its reputation as a cornerstone of humanitarian service in the region.
