The highly anticipated 100% Free Skill Acquisition and Empowerment Programme began at yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
The programme is to equip residents of Bayelsa State metropolis with their desired skills and expertise necessary to add value to their lives and society. The Orientation and induction ceremony that took place on the 6th and 7th Feb. 2025 respectively in the foundation’s conference hall was attended by esteemed guests, programme facilitators, and trainees, set the tone for an engaging and informative programme. Keynote speakers, including industry experts and thought leaders, shared inspiring stories and valuable insights on the opportunities and challenges of acquiring a skill.
Amb. High Chief (Capt) Paul Mandela Ogoun PhD JP, Director of the 100% Free Skill Acquisition Programme, welcomed the trainees and expressed enthusiasm about the programme’s potential to transform participants’ lives. “We are committed to providing our trainees with the knowledge, skills, and support necessary to excel in their chosen skills,” he stated.
He further highlighted the importance of having a skill in contemporary society, emphasizing that the training is free and should not be taken for granted, given the significant funds invested.
The induction ceremony also featured an overview of the programme’s curriculum, skills such as Catering, Soap Production, Paint Production and screeding, Agro farming, Shoe/Bag making, Fashion Design and among others. Trainees were introduced to the various skills facilitators who will guide them throughout their journey.
The Paul Ogoun’s Foundation 100% Free Skills Acquisition Programme is a comprehensive initiative aimed at empowering Nigerian youths, women, and men with the skills and expertise required to stand out and make a meaningful impact on society. With its robust curriculum and experienced instructors, the programme is poised to make a significant impact on participants’ lives and the broader Nigerian economy.
Some inductees expressed gratitude to the CEO of the foundation, Ambassador Captain Ogoun, for providing them with the opportunity to acquire skills at no cost. They pledged to perform their best during the training.
